This is the second time in a row that DBIT students have been awarded the SAS Scholarship!  The award scheme was launched just one year ago in Jan 2012, as SAS's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and their commitment to educating the future generation.

Besides the cash award, Timothy will also be offered an internship with SAS / its partners next year.  This will provide him with opportunities to take his knowledge in Business Analytics to the workplace.

If you are not familar with the term "Business Analytics", then its high time you learn what is it!

In simple terms, "Business Analytics" refers to a specialised industry where practioners use software such as SAS that can collect useful business data from various sources, analyse these data and make predictions based on the analysis, so that companies can make better business decisions for their future.

As part of an academic collaboration agreement between the two organisations,  students from DMIT (School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology) will receive specialized and hands-on training in Business Analytics from the SAS, the leader in Business Analytics.

Students from three relevant diploma courses—Business Information Technology, Information Technology and Infocomm Security Management will be taught the fundamentals of Business Analytics and Business Intelligence. Students will also receive training in SAS® Analytics  and  SAS Business Intelligence  software. Students will learn to manage, integrate and analyze data to facilitate quick and accurate decision making.

This will be really beneficial to our students as many websites have already announced how business analytics and its related fields are generating some of the hottest demand in the jobs industry.
