DBIT Students Organize Competition With a Heart

Five Diploma in Business Information Technology (DBIT) third-year students
, in collaboration with The Super Mummy Club, have helped to organize a cooking competition in celebration of the New Year. This club was founded in 2009 and aims to help improve the mothers’ standard of living by training them with new skills and also to motivate their children to study hard. You can visit the facebook page they made at www.facebook.com/supermummiesclub.

Most of these mothers come from low income families, with multiple children and live in rental subsidized HDB one-room flat. The mothers aided by the club needs motivation from the society as they have experienced traumatizing events, married young and have children to look after.

Ms Indranee Singh, MP of Tanjong Pagar GRC, who is the champion of The Super Mummy programme, was also there to support this event. Three prize winners were selected by the judging panel and home appliances were given to them as prizes.

Other than the cooking competition, the students are also involved in the organizing of Family Bonding Camp for Henderson Community Centre. The purpose of this camp is to help bond the parents and the children, as they seldom have time to communicate with each other. The camp was a great success and everyone had a great time.

Other than these activities, the Super Mummy committee is also currently planning for the Children Camp, which will be held on March this year.
